Behind the Scenes at CCFD w/ Amy Caroline

Floral Design is hard work.  Like physical, tiring, on-your-feet-all-day, floral-glue-stuck-to-your-hands hard work.  I once had an employee who soaked in a hot, sudsy bath after a long day of floral design and I don't blame her one bit.  So often we only show the end result of all that work, when our arrangements are perfectly placed (ahem, staged for a photo) on gorgeously coordinated linens among perfectly styled props.  So it's always fun to show what happens behind the scenes at our studio Wednesday-Saturday during wedding season.  The reality is FLOWER EXPLOSION.  Flowers everywhere and a beautifully coordinated chaos of design happening.  It really is so thrilling.

Here's a little look into our world on a design day.  We left the bucket cleaning, wax removing, and vase prep out for asthetic reasons - ha!  Oh, and you may see a sweet little miss who happened to join us for this day.  I figured you wouldn't mind!

Thanks, Amy Caroline, for so beautifully documenting this day!!!  To see more, check out her blog and some tips on why we think flowers should be a high priority in your wedding budget (DUH!)

My Best Friend's Wedding | Carolyn + Daniel | Mile High Station

Every day I am surrounded by love and weddings and beautiful things. People constantly ask me, "Do you ever get sick of weddings?" And my answer is always, "Absolutely not!" I love celebrating marriage. Two people committing their lives to one another forever is a beautiful thing. Last October I had the honor of standing next to two of my best friends in the world as they gave their lives to one another. Carolyn has been my best friend since we were five years old and Daniel and I instantly became best friends when we met three years ago. I was actually the one to introduce these two and will always claim that I knew from the moment they met that they would get married. It didn't take long for them to realize it either. I can only hope that every person would get to witness at some point in their lives an unconditional love like Daniel and Carolyn's. It is genuine, it is sacrificial, it is fun and adventurous, it is constant.

Not only was I the maid of honor for this wedding, but I also had the opportunity to design all of their flowers. One of my favorite parts of the whole day was getting to hand Carolyn her bouquet. You better believe I cried like a baby!

Daniel and Carolyn: You two are a blessing and a gift to me. Still can't believe I got to stand beside both of you on your wedding day. You show me an incredible picture of marriage every day and I'm so grateful for you two in my life!

Love, Liz

Denver Wedding | Grey & Yellow | Particulars + Cori Cook Floral Design

My very favorite colors and flowers came together this fall for one beautiful wedding at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.  A punchy grey, yellow, and white color palette was played out with yellow garden roses, billy balls, oncidium orchids, airplants, and pieris...

There are only a few weeks here in Denver that my favorite little draping accent flower, pieris, is available, and much to my delight, this was it's glory week.  You should hear the squeals around here when pieris proudly enters the studio.  It's kind of ridiculous that this little flower creates such a commotion.  But it totally does.  See it peeking out of the girl's bouquets, creating the perfect draping effect?

This wedding really was a joy to be a part of.  I always love an opportunity to work with Emily of Particulars and the ways she adds fun to every event!

Enjoy this lovely wedding.  And feel free to leave a comment expressing your love for that pieris (:
